Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in Eugene, Florence, & Roseburg, OR
PRP has been used for years in different realms of medicine to promote healing and collagen production at surgical sites, using a patient’s own (autologous) plasma. In dermatology, we use PRP to induce collagen growth, improve acne scars, improve skin texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and stretch marks, and promote hair growth on the scalp.
PRP is obtained by a venipuncture blood draw. The patient’s blood is obtained and spun down in a centrifuge, which separates red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma by force and weight. The PRP serum obtained contains a platelet-rich growth factor and is placed into a syringe for re-injection into various sites of the face that need collagen production/rejuvenation.
What is the difference between PRP and PRFM?
PRP/PRFM contains your own body’s platelets suspended in plasma. PRFM is an even further development that produces a fibrin mesh that sustains the platelets in the area injected to provide continued growth factor release over a longer period of time compared to PRP, thus even further enhancing the benefits of the treatment.
PRFM can also be added to our CO2 laser resurfacing to increase healing and decrease downtime. It is especially helpful with acne scar reduction.

What is the difference between and PRFM and exosomes?
With PRFM, our nurse will draw your blood, spin it, and then use the PRFM to apply it to your skin. Exosomes are a little different as no blood draw is necessary; the exosomes are derived from a lab from a stable human host. The exosomes have been tested in a lab, and the results are comparable to PRFM.
