CO2 Laser
Benjamin Vazquez, MD FAAD performs both Deep., Active F, and Total Fx.
Active FX performs a superficial resurfacing of the skin. It is ideal for fine lines and mild acne scars. Deep FX is used for deep scars and deep wrinkles. Total FX combines Total FX and Deep FX, combining both superficial and deep laser resurfacing.
What is CO2 laser resurfacing?
Facial rejuvenation is defined as the improvement of the changes associated with aging, sun exposure, environmental factors, and genetics- especially increased skin pigmentation, redness and blood vessels, texture and laxity changes, and, of course, wrinkles.
How long does this procedure take?
The total process takes about 2 hours in the clinic. First, we will apply topical anesthesia for 1 hour prior to this procedure. The actual procedure will take anywhere from 30-60 minutes depending on how many areas we are treating.
What do I need to expect prior to treatment?
Dr. Vazquez or Jen Rogers, RN will consult with you prior to this procedure to determine if you are a candidate. We will go over the procedure in detail, and Dr. Vazquez will prescribe any medications necessary prior to the procedure.
What is the healing time?
Typically redness, oozing, some crusting, and peeling will have for 3-7 days post-procedure, depending on the depth of the treatment. For active Fx- expect about 3-5 days, for Deep Fx, expect about 5-7 days.
What are the risks?
There is a low complication rate for this procedure. A skin consultation is necessary to determine your individual risks based on your skin type/texture/healing.

ProNox
What is ProNox? ProNox is 50/50 Nitrous oxide and oxygen. During the procedure, we use this for comfort measures. It is safe and effective for pain control. You are able to drive home within 10 minutes of discontinuing the ProNox, however, we recommend a driver after the procedure if possible.
Post care take-home products (no extra cost to patient, included with the procedure):
After the procedure, we will provide you with products to help you heal quicker. We will apply a SkinCeuticals bio-cellulose mask post-procedure that you will leave on, and also supply 1 more for the next day (available for the purchase of $25 per mask if you would like more). You will go home with a full size EltaMD laser balm, SkinCeuticals samples of gentle cleanser to wash your face, and a 1:10 ratio of dilute white vinegar that helps as an antimicrobial for the skin. If you decide to go ahead with PRP post-procedure, that will also cut your downtime but this is an additional fee.
